The very special feature of this essential oil lies in hand-harvesting and distillation which were carried out on the day of the Full Moon in June. Ancient people believed that energies of the nature on a full moon day were special. At that time, herbs were supposed to be even more potent.

Sage is another of the mighty medicinal plants known and appreciated by ancient civilizations. Leaving aside the belief that it prolongs life and even endows us with immortality, it unquestionably helps to alleviate many ailments. It is also known as an exceptional energy room cleanser.

Sage is picked by hand in the unspoiled nature of Dalmatia. It is well-known that the best sage in the world grows in Dalmatia. The sight is especially beautiful in May, when whole fields bloom in pale purple. The plant grows on a rocky terrain with scarce soil. As with most herbs, it is true also of sage – the harder the conditions for survival, the strongest the plant and its inner healing power.

When touching leaves by hand and rubbing them, a unique smell impregnates fingers: very aromatic and balsamic, yet gentle and sweet. Despite the clear herbal note, the scent is not sharp, as is often the case with some other herbs and even with sage from other sites. It is really difficult to find an equal to Dalmatian sage! The essential oil in the plant is quite substantial, 1.5 – 2.5%. The color of the oil is yellowish.
