Tourist country house Žunko is situated in the heart of softly rounded green hills between Bresternica and Žavcer peak, in the north-eastern part of Slovenia. A peaceful rural area with a beautiful view over the town of Maribor is only a 15-minute drive from the town centre.
The estate is situated on a beautiful spot overlooking Maribor and Pohorje. The country house has two antique-style double rooms, a larger room with several beds and the soul of the building – a large library with a fireplace and a magnificent external staircase overlooking Maribor and the surrounding area. Annexed to the building is a large old style farm kitchen where guests can prepare their own meals.

The Žunko country house offers a unique get- away where you can rent a traditional renovated and completely furnished house with a spacious courtyard and a covered outdoor space. In addition to renting an accommodation for up to 25 people, with a prior arrangement it is also possible to benefit from culinary treats and obtain assistance with organisations of events and retreats. Your countryside experience can be further enriched with homemade bio-products and wonderful scents from the Aromatic Garden at Vida’s.

Vida Fugina
Žunko country house in its present renovated state would not exist without Vida. Vida Fugina, born Žunko, is a very creative person and a great lover of rural motifs. Her passion are cuisine, antique collections, renovation of the old house and landscaping. When renovating her country house Vida doesn’t merely follow the principles of an authentic reconstruction but, with her innovative approach, wishes for her guests to enjoy Slovenian rural tradition in a modern way. A key part of such an experience is, apart from a creative cuisine and the original country house, also a nicely arranged surrounding. Vida has received the ‘Golden Rose Award’ for the latter. The help in arranging the surrounding area and the garden came from friends that Vida met at the one-month training led by the famous botanist Jelena de Belder. Today Vida takes full benefit of the acquired knowledge and develops it further by experimenting with fruit, plants and herbs from her home garden and using those in delicious and healthy homemade products.
