CLARY SAGE hydrosol

Clary sage growing in our Herb garden is a very lovely plant. You will find more about it on the Herb garden page. The plant with its huge upright flowers and big velvety leaves is a real charmer.

In the distillation process we only use the flower parts and smaller upper leaves and distill with pure spring water of the Pohorje hills. Because the flower content is so predominant, the scent obtained is very distinctive.

The scent of clary sage is very special – you like it or you don’t. Most people are surprised that such a huge plant offers such a gentle and subdued smell. Interesting though, it is widely used in perfumery for male users. This special smell is also very nicely captured in hydrosol.

Clary sage hydrolat is one of stable hydrolats. It must be used within 24 months of the distillation date or 3 months after the opening. It is safe for both external and internal use. It is not recommended during pregnancy or with hormone-related diseases.

It is largely used to relieve women hormonal conditions and imbalances.

skin: as a tonic it is suitable for oily and mixed skin, as a deodorant it moderately prevents sweating
as an aphrodisiac: has a mild aphrodisiac effect, hence it is suitable as a bedroom fragrance
emotions: helps with emotional trauma and heartaches, in mid-life crises
