Spruce grows in high altitudes all the way up to the forest border towards the mountains.<\/p>\n
We collect tips of spruce twigs by hand in the pristine forests of Kozjak, only choosing sites that are away from roads and settlements, which is not particularly difficult in the vast forests of Kozjak. Our spruce essential oils are distinguished from other spruce essential oils by a clean scent resulting from consistency in picking tops.<\/span> In conventional production distillations, large ends of spruce branches are usually collected.<\/span> Whole branches are then crushed into 3-4cm pieces with the help of mechanical branch shredders.<\/span> In doing so, they get a fairly compact mass, which, in addition to needles, also contains a lot of crushed spruce wood.<\/span> Thicker branches are not eliminated due to the desire for the most efficient procedure.<\/span> Thus, distillers save a lot of time, but the mass they then distill is of much lower quality.<\/span> Such an essential oil usually has a very woody and rough note of scent.<\/span><\/p>\n We pick only the flexible green ends of the twigs by hand, we remove all the thicker branches.<\/span> The tops are then cut into 4-5 cm pieces by hand.<\/span> The distillation mass thus obtained has very few wood particles, needles and green twig ends predominate.<\/span> The essential oil that results from this therefore has no rough woody odor.<\/span><\/p>\n Spruce oil comes mainly from the needles, some also from young cones. Twigs yield some 0.7 \u2013 1.0% of pale yellow oil. Since it oxidizes quickly, it is recommended to keep it well closed and in a cool place.
